Look at the acknowledgement generated when Form TM-A was filed. Ask your trademark agent for the acknowledgement if they filed it for you.

Visit the Trade Marks e-Register Official ↗. It is operated by India's Trade Marks Registry.

Complete the portal verification
Enter an email address or mobile number, complete the captcha or expression, request the OTP and verify it where prompted. Portal screens may change.

Choose the application-number/National-IRDI search option when presented, enter the number exactly and open the relevant record.

Check the current status, applicant name, class, filing date, examination or correspondence documents, journal details and next action if available.

Where can I find my trademark application number?
Your application number is generally on the electronic acknowledgement or filing receipt for your trademark application, often filed through Form TM-A. It is not your GSTIN, PAN or company CIN. The number is used to retrieve the particular trademark filing and, after registration, is generally associated with its registration record.
Example (illustrative): You applied to register the invented brand name Mango Orbit in Class 35. Your filing acknowledgement provides an application number. Enter that number on the official portal to check whether the mark is still being examined or has progressed to advertisement. This is a hypothetical example, not a real registry result.
Can I check status without an application number?
Yes, start with the official Trade Marks public search Official ↗. Search using the word mark and relevant class or other available fields, then verify the owner and mark before relying on a result. Similar brand names can have multiple applications in different classes or under different owners.
Save the application number and a dated copy of any relevant examination report, hearing notice or registry correspondence. A status label alone may not tell you the applicable deadline.
Trademark application status meanings: what to do next
The Registry uses short status labels that can be confusing if this is your first filing. Use the following as a practical guide; the underlying documents and notices control your next action.

A status can change as correspondence is uploaded or proceedings continue. A pending application is not the same as a registered trademark.
What if my trademark status says Objected?
An Objected status usually means the examiner has issued an examination report. The objection might relate to a descriptive name, lack of distinctiveness or conflict with an earlier trademark. It does not automatically mean your application has been finally rejected.
Under Rule 33(4) of the Trade Marks Rules, 2017, where the applicant fails to respond within one month from receiving the examination report, the Registrar may treat the application as abandoned. Check the report and the actual communication date; do not calculate the deadline merely from the date on which you happened to look at the status page.
How to respond to an objection
- Download and read the examination report and cited marks.
- Identify each objection and its legal ground, including any reference to Sections 9 or 11.
- Assemble relevant evidence such as genuine prior-use documents, invoices or other proof, if applicable.
- Prepare an accurate reply addressing the specific points raised and submit it through the prescribed procedure.
- Monitor the case for acceptance, further correspondence or a hearing notice.

What if the status says Accepted & Advertised or Opposed?
An Accepted & Advertised status indicates that the mark has been published in the Trade Marks Journal, allowing others to challenge registration. Under Rule 42, the opposition window is four months from publication in the relevant journal. Check the actual journal information for your application.
An Opposed status means someone has filed a formal opposition. Under Rule 44, the applicant normally has two months from receiving the copy of the notice of opposition from the Registrar to file a counterstatement in Form TM-O. Subsequent evidence deadlines and hearings may follow.
An opposition is time-sensitive. Do not assume the deadline runs from the day you first see the word “Opposed” on the website. Confirm service of the notice and seek professional advice promptly.

Registered, Refused or Abandoned: understanding the outcome
Registered
A Registered status confirms registration for the relevant goods or services. Download the registration certificate where available and check the particulars. Under Section 25 of the Trade Marks Act, 1999, registration ordinarily lasts 10 years and is renewable in successive 10-year periods. Refused
A refused application has not achieved registration. Read the Registry's reasoned decision and assess any available statutory remedy and limitation period. Refiling without addressing the cause of refusal may recreate the same problem.
Abandoned
An abandoned filing may reflect a missed examination response, opposition step or another procedural requirement. Retrieve correspondence and procedural history before deciding whether any remedy remains available or whether a new filing is needed.
