What Is Company Master Data?

Company Master Data is the basic statutory identity/profile information maintained by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

It is useful for:

• vendor verification;
• client onboarding;
• legal-entity checks;

• confirming registered office/status;
• identifying CIN/LLPIN and ROC.

Details You Can Commonly Verify

Depending on entity and portal view:

• Company/LLP name
• CIN / LLPIN
• date of incorporation
• company category/class
• authorised capital
• paid-up capital
• registered office
• company status
• ROC/jurisdiction
• other public master-data fields

Important Correction: Master Data Is Not Full Financial Due Diligence

Basic master data does not automatically give you complete audited financial statements.

For deeper review, MCA's public-document services and filed forms may need to be accessed separately under the applicable process/fee.

Do not claim that a basic company search proves profitability, solvency or tax compliance.

How to Check

What “Active” Does Not Mean

An active MCA status does not automatically prove:

• GST is active;
• annual returns are fully up to date;
• no litigation exists;
• no debt/default exists;
• bank details are genuine;
• sector licences are valid.

Use MCA master data as one part of due diligence.

2026 ROC Mapping Changes

MCA announced new/changed ROC structures effective in 2026 for certain locations. This means old blogs that permanently map one state/city to an older ROC office can become outdated.

Always use the ROC/jurisdiction displayed by the current MCA system.
