ITR-6 Corporate Income Tax Return Filing for Companies

ITR-6 is the mandatory statutory direct tax return form under the Income Tax Act, 1961 for all companies registered under the Companies Act, 2013 (or 1956)—including Private Limited Companies, Public Limited Companies, and One Person Companies (OPC)—other than companies claiming exemption under Section 11 (charitable trusts).

TaxQue provides institutional corporate tax advisory. Our Chartered Accountants compute corporate tax under Section 115BAA (concessional 22% rate) vs normal 25%/30% rates, calculate Minimum Alternate Tax (MAT) under Section 115JB, integrate Tax Audit Reports in Form 3CA-3CD and Transfer Pricing reports in Form 3CEB, and file returns using Director Class 3 Digital Signatures.

What is ITR-6 Filing?

ITR-6 is the comprehensive direct tax declaration form mandated for all incorporated corporate companies in India, disclosing operating revenues, balance sheet schedules, MAT calculations, and statutory audit findings.

ITR-6 Filing — ITR-1, ITR-2, ITR-3, ITR-4, ITR-5, ITR-6, ITR-7 Return Filing — TaxQue

Compulsory for All Companies: Filing ITR-6 is strictly compulsory for every active, dormant, or loss-making company registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA).

Concessional 22% Corporate Tax (Section 115BAA): Domestic companies can opt for the concessional base tax rate of 22% (+ 10% surcharge + 4% cess = effective 25.17%) by forgoing specified profit-linked exemptions and MAT.

Minimum Alternate Tax (MAT - Section 115JB): Companies operating under the normal tax regime must pay MAT @ 15% on book profits if normal tax payable is less than 15% of adjusted book profits.

Mandatory Digital Signature (DSC) & Form 3CD Alert

Filing ITR-6 without electronic submission of the Tax Audit Report (Form 3CA-3CD) and Class 3 DSC of the Managing Director renders the return invalid and triggers Section 271B penalty of ₹1.5 Lakhs.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about ITR-6 Filing

ITR-6 is the mandatory income tax return for all registered domestic and foreign companies under the Companies Act, 2013 (including Private Limited Companies, Public Limited Companies, One Person Companies, and Section 8 companies that do not claim 12A exemption). Companies claiming exemption under Section 11 must file ITR-7.

Under the concessional Section 115BAA regime, domestic companies can opt for a flat 22% corporate tax rate (effective 25.17% inclusive of 10% surcharge and 4% cess) with zero MAT applicability. Under the standard regime, the rate is 25% for companies with turnover up to ₹400 Crores (or 30% for turnover above ₹400 Crores), subject to Minimum Alternate Tax (MAT) @ 15%. TaxQue optimizes your regime selection.

Under Section 139(1), the due date for filing ITR-6 is 31st October of the assessment year (or 30th November if the company is subject to international transfer pricing audit under Section 92E). The statutory CA Tax Audit report (Form 3CA-3CD) must be submitted by 30th September.

Yes. Under the Companies Act, 2013, every Private Limited and Public Limited company must undergo an independent Statutory Audit by a practicing Chartered Accountant, regardless of turnover. Tax audit under Section 44AB is additionally required if turnover exceeds ₹1 Crore (or ₹10 Crores for digital receipts).

Your corporate tax return is prepared by a dedicated Corporate Tax Specialist and audited by a practicing Chartered Accountant. We ensure all IND-AS / Indian GAAP disclosures, MAT calculations, Schedule AL, and depreciation registers match MCA financial statements perfectly.
