Online ITR-4 (Sugam) Presumptive Tax Return Filing Services

ITR-4 (Sugam) is the simplified direct tax return form under the Income Tax Act, 1961 for resident individuals, Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs), and Partnership Firms (other than LLPs) who opt for the Presumptive Taxation Scheme under Section 44AD (businesses), Section 44ADA (professionals), or Section 44AE (goods carriage transporters).

The presumptive scheme relieves small business owners from the mandatory burden of maintaining detailed books of accounts and undergoing annual tax audits. TaxQue helps you accurately declare statutory presumptive profits (6%/8% for businesses, 50% for professionals), reconcile receipts with AIS and GST data, and file your return quickly at an affordable cost.

What is ITR-4 Filing?

ITR-4 is designed for small businesses and professionals seeking hassle-free compliance by declaring a statutory percentage of gross turnover/receipts as taxable net profit without maintaining complete accounting ledgers.

ITR-4 Filing — ITR-1, ITR-2, ITR-3, ITR-4, ITR-5, ITR-6, ITR-7 Return Filing — TaxQue

Section 44AD (Small Businesses & Traders): Eligible for businesses with annual turnover up to ₹3 Crore (if digital receipts >= 95%) or ₹2 Crore. Taxable profit is declared at 6% of digital turnover and 8% of cash turnover.

Section 44ADA (Specified Professionals): Eligible for doctors, lawyers, engineers, architects, accountants, and consultants with gross receipts up to ₹75 Lakhs (if digital >= 95%) or ₹50 Lakhs. Taxable profit is declared at a minimum of 50%.

Section 44AE (Goods Transporters): Eligible for persons owning not more than 10 goods carriages, declaring fixed presumptive profit (₹7,500/month for light vehicles, ₹1,000/ton for heavy vehicles).

5-Year Opt-Out Lock-in Rule (Section 44AD(4))

If a business opts out of the Section 44AD presumptive scheme in any financial year, it is prohibited from re-entering the scheme for the next 5 consecutive assessment years and must maintain books and undergo tax audit under Section 44AB.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about ITR-4 Filing

ITR-4 is designed for resident individuals, HUFs, and partnership firms (excluding LLPs) having total income up to ₹50 Lakhs who opt for presumptive taxation under Section 44AD (small businesses), Section 44ADA (professionals like doctors, CAs, lawyers, IT consultants), or Section 44AE (goods carriage transporters). Our team confirms your eligibility in minutes.

Under Section 44AD (businesses), the turnover limit is ₹2 Crores (extended to ₹3 Crores if digital receipts are ≥ 95%). Under Section 44ADA (specified professionals), the gross receipt limit is ₹50 Lakhs (extended to ₹75 Lakhs if digital receipts are ≥ 95%). TaxQue ensures your digital receipts qualify for the higher limit.

Under Section 44AD, you must declare at least 6% on turnover received through digital/banking modes and 8% on cash turnover. Under Section 44ADA for professionals, you must declare at least 50% of gross professional receipts as net taxable profit. You can always voluntarily declare higher profits.

No. The main benefit of ITR-4 under presumptive taxation is complete exemption from maintaining books of accounts under Section 44AA and complete exemption from CA tax audit under Section 44AB. You only need to report gross receipts and simple financial metrics (cash balance, debtors, creditors, stock).

Your ITR-4 is prepared by a dedicated tax expert and verified by a practicing Chartered Accountant. We verify your gross receipts against GST returns, bank statements, and 26AS/AIS to ensure complete compliance.
