GST Return Filing

Estimated timeline *3–5 Working Days per Tax Period

Estimated delivery

Timeline conditions

SLA for each covered tax period: The 3–5 working-day estimate starts after the client supplies a complete, usable sales register or sales invoices, purchase records, GST portal access and filing approval; GSTR-3B also depends on the relevant GSTR-2B and sufficient tax funds. We prepare and submit the included returns on the GSTIN's monthly or elected QRMP schedule, subject to portal availability and client sign-off. Working days exclude weekends and public holidays. Send data before statutory due dates. GST, interest, late fees, extra GSTINs or invoice records, prior periods, invoice creation/bookkeeping, GSTR-9/9C and notices are extra; government processing is outside this estimate.

Prepare GSTR-1/1A and GSTR-3B from business records: Timely filing of GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B to prevent statutory late fees of up to ₹50/day and e-way bill blocking.

Reconcile GSTR-2B, IMS actions and eligible ITC: Cross-verify vendor invoices against GSTR-2B to prevent input tax credit loss and avoid scrutiny notices.

Due dates and tax liability depend on taxpayer profile and period: Qualified tax experts review your sales register, compute net tax liability, and file returns before the 20th of every month.

GST Return Filing and Reconciliation Support

Keep GST returns connected to the sales, purchase and tax-payment records behind them. TaxQue helps prepare the agreed returns for your GSTIN and filing frequency, review the supplied data and flag differences for confirmation. Share the period, invoice volume and outstanding filings when enquiring.

Choose a plan that matches the number of invoices, GST registrations and reconciliation work required. Confirm GSTR-1, GSTR-3B or other return coverage and who approves tax payments. Annual returns, notices, refund applications and historical corrections are separate unless expressly included.

What is GST Return Filing?

GST return filing reports the taxpayer’s required supply, liability, tax payment and input tax credit information for each assigned tax period. Depending on the taxpayer profile, filings can include GSTR-1/1A, GSTR-3B, IFF or other forms. Reconciliation with books, invoices, GSTR-2B and relevant IMS records helps identify differences before submission.

GST Return Filing

Confirm GSTIN and return coverage: Identify the taxpayer type, monthly or quarterly cycle and the exact periods included in the plan.

Review sales and purchase differences: Compare available records and portal information and resolve missing invoices or credit differences before filing.

Approve and retain the filing record: Review the prepared figures, authorise submission and retain acknowledgements and tax-payment evidence.

Use the live GST Portal for period-specific dates

Standard dates (including GSTR-1 monthly on the 11th and quarterly on the 13th, and GSTR-3B monthly on the 20th or quarterly on the 22nd/24th by State/UT) may be extended. Confirm each GSTIN’s due date and any late fee/interest on the official portal.

GST Return Filing and QRMP Eligibility

Return obligation, form and filing frequency depend on GST registration type, scheme and portal profile. The GST Portal currently describes QRMP eligibility for taxpayers with PAN-based aggregate annual turnover up to ₹5 crore in the current and preceding financial years (where applicable), provided the last due GSTR-3B is filed. Verify eligibility and scheme status on the portal; nil periods may still require filing.

Eligibility

Who Must File GST Returns

Filing obligations depend on GST registration category, return form, tax period, scheme and active status. Confirm each GSTIN’s return dashboard and current notifications; late filing can affect compliance and input tax credit matching.

1Check return obligation and scheme

  • Confirm taxpayer category, GSTIN status, assigned forms, monthly or QRMP frequency and any nil-return requirement.
  • Confirm the tax period, prior return status and portal deadlines; a nil period may still need a return.
  • Review whether the business has outward supplies, purchases/ITC, reverse-charge liability, e-commerce supplies, exports or adjustments to report.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about GST Return Filing

Regular GST registered businesses must file two main monthly returns: GSTR-1 (declaring all outward sales and invoice details by the 11th of the month) and GSTR-3B (summary of sales, input tax credit, and tax payment by the 20th of the month). If you opted for the QRMP scheme, you file quarterly returns with monthly tax challans. Our team automates both filings for you.

Filing after the due date attracts a mandatory statutory late fee of ₹50 per day (₹20 per day for Nil returns), capped at ₹500 for Nil returns and ₹2,000/₹5,000/₹10,000 for others depending on turnover under Section 47, plus 18% per annum interest on net cash tax liability under Section 50. Consecutive defaults also lead to automated blocking of your E-Way Bill generation facility. TaxQue sends proactive reminders and files your returns 3 to 5 days before the cutoff to keep you penalty-free.

Under Rule 36(4) of CGST Rules, you can only claim Input Tax Credit (ITC) if your supplier has uploaded the invoice and it reflects in your auto-generated GSTR-2B statement. Claiming unmatched ITC triggers automated Section 88D demand notices. Our software matches your purchase register line-by-line with GSTR-2B to maximize your legitimate tax savings safely.

Yes, filing a 'Nil' return is strictly mandatory even if you had zero sales and zero purchases during the month. Failing to file a Nil return still accumulates a ₹20/day government late fee and blocks your GST portal account. TaxQue manages your Nil filings seamlessly.

A dedicated GST accountant reviews your monthly sales invoices, purchase bills, and bank statements, which are then audited by a senior Chartered Accountant before submission on the GSTN portal.
